This site is cookie-free, which makes a consent banner unnecessary.
Cookie-free, really
This site is cookie-free, first-party or otherwise. An analytics package, a tag manager, an advertising pixel, a session identifier and fingerprinting are all left out. You move between pages, and away from the site, alone.
We mention it on its own page because it is easy to doubt. You can check: open your browser’s developer tools, look at storage for this domain, and find it empty.
What that costs us, and why we pay it
It leaves us guessing at how many people read a page, which pages lead to enquiries, and where a visitor came from. Those are genuinely useful things to know, and we have chosen to give them up.
The trade is deliberate. We sell software to people whose job is to be careful about what gets collected. A consent banner on our own site would be a poor advertisement for that.
The one outside party
Typefaces load from Google’s font CDN, which means Google sees the IP address of anyone loading a page. The font request itself is cookie-free, but it is a request to a third party and we would rather name it than let “cookie-free” imply more than it says. It is covered in full on the privacy page.
Local storage
The assistant panel remembers its size in your own browser’s local storage, so it opens the way you left it. That value stays on your machine, out of our reach, and clearing site data removes it.
